Description

Mozart didn’t write these concertos himself; they are actually arrangements of movements from various piano sonatas that were written by Honauer, Holzbauer, Raupach, Schobert and Eckard.

Never heard of any of these composers? No worries, neither had I! Actually, there are a couple of movements from sonatas by CPE and JC Bach, the illustrious sons of Johann Sebastian.

The idea for these concertos came from assignments given to him by his father, who was also his music teacher. He was told to turn these sonatas into keyboard concertos with orchestra accompaniment. This happened when Mozart was all of 11 years old.

The results are astonishing, even for someone twice his age!

Please have a listen – I’m sure you’ll be as impressed with them as I was!
