Markus Passion, BWV 247
This oratorio Passion is one of the lesser-known treasures of Johann Sebastian Bach’s sacred works. Only Picander’s libretto has been preserved of the composition, but it has been possible to reconstruct it to a certain extent.
Ulrich Noethen, the well-known actor, recites the text of the Evangelist in alternation with the arias and chorales, performed by soloists and by the Kölner Akademie.
