Musician of the month: Daniel Lee

Which instrument do you play at the Cologne Academy and when did you start playing?
I play the violin and started playing with the ensemble in 2020.

What brought you to the Kölner Akademie?
I was introduced to the group by my friend Bruno Van Esseveld who of course also plays in the ensemble.

In which other orchestras and ensembles do you play?
I play with Concerto Köln from time to time and used to play also with the Antwerp Symphony, occasionally I help out with a group called Marmousha Orchestra which plays Andalusian music.

What do you think distinguishes your work with the Kölner Akademie?
What I find special with the Kölner Akademie is the constant exploration of never before heard pieces or pieces of music that not yet been recorded or played. 

What do you like to do when you are not playing music?
When I am not playing music I like to go outside and visit my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam or other cities, or go for a walk and enjoy the beautiful nature.
