Shvayg Mayn Harts – שװַײג, מַײן הַאַרץ

Michael Alexander Willens has long since made a name for himself with works from very different repertoires, which he rediscovers for our musical life with his ensemble Kölner Akademie for our musical life. The program, program, which he is now presenting at the zamus: early music festival, has a very special significance for him: the music comes from his grandfathers Alexander Olshanetsky and Herman Yablokoff! They were among the most famous composers in the golden age of Yiddish theater in America. Their songs were performed in musicals and eventually became standards, as popular and well-known as the later Broadway hits by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim.

Roman Grinberg and Sasha Lurje, two international stars of Yiddish music, now sing these songs accompanied by the Kölner Akademie big band. It is historically informed and based on the line-up of the
show band that Alexander Olshanetsky had at his disposal when he was music music director at the famous Concord Hotel in New York State. Songs written by his grandfathers: Michael Alexander Willens is eager to share them with his audience.
