Description

On the strength and merits of our recording of the Zani cello concertos, the University of Auckland in New Zealand was generous enough to fund this world premiere recording of four flute concertos by Johann Joachim Quantz. As court composer, flute maker and flute teacher to no less than Frederick the Great, who by all accounts was a rather decent flautist, Quantz wrote over 300 flute concertos and 200 sonatas.

The four concertos represented on this recording give a good overview of his style which was influenced by the international set of teachers with whom he studied. For all of you flute and baroque music lovers out there, this recording is definitely for you!
