Description

Although it’s been totally overplayed and overexposed, ‘Eine kleine Nachtmusik’ is still one of my favorite serenades by Mozart. An unusual discovery points out that one of the movements, most likely a minuet, was torn out of the original score and has never been found!
How do we know this? A close look at the original score shows tear marks between the 1st movement and the Romanze.

The form of the serenade is pretty standardised at this time, so one would assume that there would have been a minuet directly after the 1st movement; since it looks like originally there was something in the score, I have taken a minuet from one of Mozart’s early string quartets and inserted it there.

Sound interesting? Have a listen to hear this new version!

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart:

March no. 1 in D major, K 335
Serenade no. 9 in D major, K 320 (Posthorn)
March no. 2 in D major, K 335
Serenade no. 13 in G major, K 525 (Eine kleine Nachtmusik) (including an additional Minuet from the string quartet in G, K 80)
